The Highway Safety Plan (HSP) is Florida’s annual plan of action for the disbursement of Highway Safety Grant Programs funding administered by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA). The federal transportation act requires the submittal of an annual HSP to serve as an application for NHSTA funding showing projects selected.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) awards subgrants to state and local subrecipient(s) including law enforcement agencies, colleges and universities, state agencies, and non-profits for behavioral safety projects. The HSP can be amended throughout the year, and all amendments must be approved by NHTSA.
The federal transportation act also requires states to submit an annual report evaluating the success of meeting objectives, project outcomes, and funding used by December 31s of each year, for the award period that ended September 30th.
This page includes current and historic highway safety plans and annual reports.
