The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) passed in November 2021 outlines new requirements for a triennial HSP. Florida is in the process of drafting their first Triennial HSP (previously updated annually) and wants to hear from you. The Triennial Highway Safety Plan (3HSP) is Florida’s plan of action for the disbursement of Highway Safety Grant Programs funding administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Federal regulations require the submittal of an annual grant application for NHSTA funding showing proposed projects selected.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) awards subgrants to state and local subrecipient(s) including law enforcement agencies, colleges and universities, state agencies, and non-profits for behavioral safety projects. The annual grant application can be amended throughout the year, and all amendments must be approved by NHTSA. Federal regulations also require states to submit an annual report evaluating the success of meeting objectives, project outcomes, and funding used by January 31st of the following year, for the award period that ended September 30th.
