Train Vehicle Crash Avoidance Pilot project

District 4 has deployed the latest ITS pilot project with the purpose of enhancing safety at four railroad crossings across Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The Train-Vehicle Crash Avoidance Pilot project combines video monitoring, vehicle video detection and roadside communication technologies aimed at observing and detecting traffic conditions. The system integrates with the RTMC and helps disseminate alerts to the public. It also establishes a foundation for future CV applications as safety solutions. The project is deploying ITS equipment at the following railroad crossings: Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR 858), Hollywood Blvd (SR 820), Commercial Blvd (SR 870), and Forest Hill Blvd (SR 882)
