Searchable Transportation Research Databases Online

Transportation Research International Documentation (TRID) Database  The TRID database combines the contents of the Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) database and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD's) Joint Transportation Research Center's International Transport Research Documentation database to comprise the world's largest and most comprehensive transportation bibliographic database containing over 900,000 entries.  

RIP Database  The Research in Progress (RIP) database contains listings for over 7,800 active transportation-related research projects. It is the counterpart to TRID. 

National Transportation Library  The National Transportation Library (NTL) serves as a repository of materials from public, academic, and private organizations. It provides a variety of transportation research resources, including links to other useful sites and downloadable copies of many reports.

ROSA-P  Repository and Open Science Access Portal: a searchable database of resources across all modes of transportation and related disciplines, with specific focus on information produced by USDOT, state DOTs, and other transportation organizations. Content types include textual works, datasets, still images, videos, other multimedia, and maps.

American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)  "AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system" (AASHTO Overview). This website provides information about AASHTO, including committees, meetings, and publications.

Cooperative Research Programs  This section of TRB's website provides information on the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP), and the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP), including links to their respective project listings.

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)  The FHWA website provides information regarding FHWA's mission, organization, programs, and resources. Links to related pages and an electronic reading room are available.

Florida Wildflower Foundation  This site includes a literature database of Florida wildflowers that compiles findings on more than 260 species. Funds for the project were provided by the State of Florida wildflower license plate. The database is intended to give researchers, botanists, the nursery industry, conservation scientists, instructors, and wildflower enthusiasts a resource to help find data on specific species.

National Technical Information Service (NTIS)  NTIS is the nation's largest "central resource for government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business-related information available today."

The Internet for Civil Engineers (ICivilEngineer) hosts a variety of websites on subjects of interest to civil engineers, including construction, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic engineering, structural engineering, and transportation engineering.

Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) RITA coordinates the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) research programs and is charged with advancing the deployment of cross-cutting technologies to improve the national transportation system. From the RITA website, users can link to various resources under its purview, such as the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and the National Transportation Library.

State University System of Florida  The FDOT Research Center contracts most of its research with state universities in Florida.

The AASHTO Research Advisory Committee (RAC) is the working arm of the Standing Committee on Research (SCOR) and is comprised of state research program managers and directors. RAC promotes quality and excellence in the conduct of research and in the application of research results. RAC members occasionally conduct surveys of practice on various transportation subjects.  

Transportation Pooled Fund Program  The Pooled Fund Program website provides listings of proposed, active, and completed projects, and general information about the program. 

Transportation Research Board  The Transportation Research Board (TRB) website provides information regarding TRB publications and activities. The home page links to pages that provide information about TRB's divisions, activities, programs, and services. 

Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center:  The Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) is a federal research facility that houses over 40 laboratories where scientists and engineers with expertise in over 100 transportation-related disciplines conduct research. TFHRC provides FHWA and the world highway community with the most advanced research and development related to new highway transportation technologies.

Volpe National Transportation Systems Center  The Volpe Center is a center of transportation and logistics expertise and part of the U.S. DOT Research and Innovative Technology Administration. This link connects to Volpe's transportation resources web portal, which provides links to several general transportation sites, as well as aviation, environment/energy, intermodal, ports, railroads, safety/security, transit, trucking/freight, and research organizations.
