The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has started the Design Phase for the SW 10th Street Connector Program as the two Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies are completed; SW 10th Street from Sawgrass Expressway to Military Trail and I-95 from south of SW 10th Street to Hillsboro Boulevard (including the I-95/SW 10th St Connector system to system interchange).
FDOT will continue its close coordination with the City of Deerfield Beach, the commercial and residential property owners and other impacted stakeholders, throughout the design and construction of the improvements identified in the PD&E Studies. The SW 10th Street Program will provide two roadways along SW 10th Street. One, the Connector Lanes, will improve regional connectivity by connecting Florida’s Turnpike/Sawgrass Expressway with I-95. The other roadway, local SW 10th Street, will become a “Complete Street”, incorporating a Shared Use Path and providing connectivity to all local properties and the local roadway network. The two facilities will work together to reduce congestion, improve operations and safety, as well as reduce response times for emergency vehicles and provide improved evacuation operations. The SW 10th St Connector Program also includes improvements at the SW 10th Street Interchange, the Hillsboro Boulevard Interchange, and provides the second express lane each direction on I-95.
