About the Study:

This project proposes to improve the operations of S.R. 714/Monterey Road at the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), a segment of approximately 0.035 miles. While the focus of the project will be to address the S.R. 714/Monterey Road at FEC railroad crossing, the project study area of influence extends beyond this location along S.R. 714/Monterey Road from S.R. 76/Kanner Hwy to SE Flying Fortress Lane. This area of influence includes five intersections that will be examined as part of this study. The intersections are: S.R. 76/Kanner Hwy, Willoughby Blvd, Monterey Ext Rd, US 1/Federal Hwy and C.R. A1A/Dixie Hwy. The project is located in Martin County near the City of Stuart.

Within the area of influence, S.R. 714/Monterey Road is functionally classified as an Urban Principal Arterial from S.R. 76/Kanner Hwy to U.S. 1/Federal Hwy and an Urban Minor Arterial from U.S. 1/Federal Hwy to S.E. Flying Fortress Lane. Additionally, S.R. 714/Monterey Road is an emergency evacuation route.
