Radiation Safety Program Administration
The Radiation Safety Program Administration Unit ensures that the Florida Department of Transportation's radioactive materials license requirements are met for the Department’s density gauges containing radioactive materials. These gauges are used to measure the density of a pavement structure's layer and earthwork during construction.
In addition, the Department's RSP has a separate program to address analytical x-ray operations conforming to the requirements for a written RSP specified in Part III (Standards for Protection Against Radiation) of Chapter 64E-5, Florida Administrative Code, titled Control of Radiation Hazards Regulations.
