Surveying and Mapping (UAS) Posted: May 25, 2016 An unmanned aircraft system (UAS) is an unmanned aircraft (UA) with associated support equipment, control station, data links, telemetry, communications, and navigation equipment necessary for operations. UA is considered an aircraft under both 49 U.S.C. § 40102 and 14 C.F.R. § 1.1. The potential uses of UAS range from infrastructure inspections, surveillance of crops, and aerial mapping to package delivery and event videography. With the lowering costs of UAS, the growth of many companies are looking to take advantage of this newly available technology.
