GPS & Cable Mapping

GPS & Cable Mapping Training Surveying Ground The GPS & Cable Mapping course is a critical course because data quality begins with the people responsible for verifying and documenting the current as-built condition so it can be properly modeled in the ITS Facility Management (ITSFM) system.

The course is designed to train a three-person crew through classroom and hands-on exercises developed from lessons learned across the state. The crew consists of a Crew Chief, GPS and cable technicians dedicated to tracing cables and mapping or “as-build” the ITS to determine its condition and actual installed location (Lat/Long), material make-up, quantities and configuration for input into the ITSFM.

The crew should be tasked by the District or Regional Partner to as-built map many miles of outside plant infrastructure supporting the ITS so the crew can master the process.
