    Welcome to Aviation Office

    Florida is fortunate to be served by one of the most comprehensive and progressive airport systems in the country. The Aviation Office develops the Florida Aviation System Plan, promotes the development and improvement of Florida’s airports, regulates airports, and protects airport approaches. Major activities include aviation system development, aviation grant program, airport regulation, intergovernmental coordination, aviation outreach and aviation emergency operations management.

      Florida’s Airports Support Over $336 Billion in Economic Activity

      The Florida Department of Transportation has completed a year-long Aviation Economic Impact Study, finding that Florida’s public-use airports and military aviation facilities contribute over $336 billion to the state’s economy and support over two million Floridian jobs!

      Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Article

      During the 2021 Florida Legislative session HB 77 was passed and signed into law as Chapter 2021-61, LOF, creating Section 330.401, F.S.. This statute requires public airports to require a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) safety mitigation and exclusion plan for certain fixed-base operators (FBOs) and for these plans to be made available during Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) inspections.

      Commercial Service Airport of the Year: Key West International Airport

      General Aviation Airport of the Year: Lakeland Linder International Airport

      Commercial Service Airport Project of the Year: Pensacola International Airport - Project Titan (New MRO Facility)

      General Aviation Airport Project of the Year: Flagler Executive Airport - New Electrical Vault and Runway Rehabilitation Project
