Study Background and Purpose

This report summarizes an analysis tool that can be used by traffic professionals when reviewing new four-quadrant gate installations in Florida. By reviewing a wide range of scenarios, the new methodology aims to reduce the possibility of trapping a vehicle in the crossing zone between gates through effective timing delays as the gates are lowered.
