Project Description

Intersection improvement for SR-710/SW Warfield Blvd W of Four Winds Ranch E of SW Springhaven Avenue. SR 710 is identified as a strategic intermodal system (SIS) facility moving traffic northwest and southeast throughout Martin County. The objective of this project is to enhance mobility, safety, emergency access and truck movement in Martin County. The corridor serves as a major arterial particular for freight.

The SR 710 Corridor Capacity Improvements Project will consider:

  • Widen from a 2-lane undivided roadway to 4-lane divided roadway
  • Realign the intersection between Martin Highway and Lettuce Creek
  • Add traffic signal to various intersections between Martin Highway and Lettuce Creek
  • Improve intersections to accommodate heavy truck traffic

Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to provide capacity improvements to enhance mobility, safety, emergency access and truck movement within Martin County. The proposed SR 710 corridor capacity improvements project will include:

  • Widen S.R. 710 from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway
  • Construct a curbed median with flush shoulders from SW Fox Brown Road to west of SW Dr. Martin Luther King Drive
  • Provide curb and gutter on both sides of the roadway from west of SW Dr. Martin Luther King Drive to SW Allapattah Road
  • Construct a 12-foot-wide shared-use path along the north side of the roadway throughout the project limits
  • Upgrade the existing drainage system to accommodate the proposed roadway improvements
  • Install a new traffic signal at the intersection of S.R. 710/Warfield Boulevard and SW Allapattah Road
  • Install corridor lighting from SW Dr. Martin Luther King Drive to SW Allapattah Road, as well as at major intersections within the project limits
