Frequently Asked Questions

What are the project limits?
The project limits extend from the Palm Beach/Martin County line to the Indian River/Brevard County line, Florida. The project length is approximately 71 miles.

What is the objective of the I-95/SR-9 Multimodal Master Plan?
I-95 is a key facility of the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS). The SIS is the high priority network of transportation facilities important to the state’s economic competitiveness. The preparation of a Multimodal Master Plan is an integral part of the continuing process for the development of the SIS and in reaching overall regional mobility goals. The plan will identify short-term and long-term capacity and operational improvements necessary to make the corridor compliant with SIS standards. It will also make recommendations for actions to be taken by the FDOT and local governments to protect and enhance the corridor through the year 2045.

What improvements will be studied as part of the I-95/SR-9 Multimodal Master Plan?
Improvements to be studied include: roadway widening, interchange modification, innovative design elements, traffic signal and intersection modifications, safety improvements, express lanes, advanced intelligent technology enhancements, park-and-ride lots, bicycle and pedestrian enhancements on cross-streets and public transit enhancements.

What is the Technical Review Committee (TRC)?
The TRC is comprised of representatives from counties, cities and agencies within the project limits. The TRC validates the planning process and provides a direct conduit between the agency staff, elected officials and the public. Members maintain a broad base of local interests, viewpoints and concerns to build consensus amongst stakeholders.

The TRC will meet at major milestones throughout the course of the study to guide the planning and study development process. TRC members will provide meaningful input and recommendations during the process.
