The FDOT Central Office coordination of the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside of the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program was recently assigned to the Systems Implementation Office. The Transportation Alternatives Program is intended to fund a variety of small-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, safe routes to school projects, community improvements such as historic preservation and vegetation management, and environmental mitigation related to stormwater and habitat connectivity.FDOT developed Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) guidance after the passing of the highway funding act, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). The Systems Implementation Office has updated this TAP Guidance with TA-Set Aside Guidance to be consistent with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.
Please direct any questions or comments on the Transportation Set-Aside to Robin Birdsong.
