The Specs on the Web (SOTW) application is currently undergoing a total system rewrite, and the new application will be relaunched under its new name, Specification Package Creator (SPC). During this transition period, Specification Package preparers and reviewers are exempt from certification and recertification training requirements to ensure continuity of operations. Effective September 8, 2026, the quarterly all day Specification Package Preparation Training will no longer be provided by the Specification Office through LTAP. The SPC application is expected to go live in January 2027, with newer technology and a more user-friendly interface. Upon release of the new SPC application, all users will be required to complete a mandatory computer-based training (CBT) prior to receiving access to the application for building or reviewing Specification Packages. Section 8 – Training in the Specifications Handbook will be revised to incorporate these updated training requirements and reflect the new processes associated with the SPC application. Additional information regarding implementation details will be shared as we move closer to the transition.
