Project Description

The project involves the reconstruction of State Road (SR) 710/Warfield Boulevard from east of SW FPL Martin Power Plant Road (MP 9.771) to west of SW Allapattah Road (MP 14.872) in Martin County, Florida. The overall project length is 5.101 miles primarily within unincorporated Martin County and adjacent to the Village of Indiantown.

SR 710/SW Warfield Boulevard is a two-lane (one lane in each direction), undivided roadway with a posted speed limit of 60 mph. The corridor includes 12 ft travel lanes with flushed shoulders. The roadway has a functional classification of rural principal arterial from MP 9.771 to MP 12.565 and urban rural principal arterial from MP 12.565 to MP 14.872 with a context classification of C2-Rural. SR 710/Warfield Boulevard is a freight corridor vital to the local and statewide economy and identified as a strategic intermodal system (SIS) facility.

The proposed improvements include reconstruction of the existing roadway to widen from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway. The proposed typical section includes two 12-ft lanes in each direction separated by a 40-ft median with 12-ft outside shoulders (5-ft paved) and 8-ft inside shoulders (5-ft paved). A 12-ft shared use path will also be provided on the north side of the roadway. In addition, improvements to the major connecting side streets will be provided to enhance safety. The proposed improvements include the following:
