Halloween Safety!

Safety tips for bicycling: On Halloween like every bicycle ride, ensure you’re wearing reflective and light-colored clothing and costume. Double check that front and back lights are functioning properly, and your helmet is fitted snug. If you're going to pedal in costume, choose something less likely to get caught in your wheels. If a crash does occur, call 911 to at minimum ensure it is reported, and in the worst case any safety and health emergency can be attended.

If you have any fun and interesting costumes related to cycling, the bus, or mobility in general; feel free to send them to mobility@mymanatee.org for inclusion on our website and the FDOT Mobility Week site.

Car 0 Day – A Day without the Car

Try to get to work and services by walking, cycling, transit or carpool and share with us your wacky stories and family-friendly pictures from the day for a chance to win several prizes. If everyone avoided single occupancy vehicles for 1 weekday each week, the roadways would have 1/5 less cars throughout the week. Give it a try on this Thursday and always remember to be safe and that for every person walking, cycling, riding the bus, or carpooling, that is one less car in traffic. Send your stories and pictures for Car Zero day to mobility@mymanatee.org for a chance to win one of several prizes supporting local businesses!

Regional Transit Working Group Announces the Reveal of New Website

Northeast Florida’s transit agencies, planners and FDOT have been meeting since 2005 to coordinate mobility services in the region. This group is named the Northeast Florida Regional Transit Working Group and will announce their new website during Mobility Week. The level of coordination conducted, and number of materials shared between members during COVID 19, highlighted the fact that a single webpage dedicated to regional transportation coordination is needed.

The site will serve two purposes. The first purpose is to feature the group’s members, history, initiatives, and success stories. The second is to become a single repository for relevant plans, documents, resources, and calendar of events including upcoming meeting schedule.
