In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Limited English Proficiency (LEP) requirements, the Florida Highway Administration has established a 4-step process to determine if it is necessary to make reasonable accommodations to insure that we, our recipients, and sub recipients provide meaningful access to our programs, services, and information for all persons. This 4-step analysis will assist you in determining the extent that LEP communities are impacted as a result of our projects:

Demography –The number or proportion of LEP persons eligible to be served or likely to be encountered by the program or grantee;

 

Frequency - The frequency with which LEP individuals come in contact with the program;

 

Importance – The nature and importance of the program, activity, or service provided by the program to people's lives; and

 

Resources – The resources available to the grantee/recipient or agency, and costs.

Regardless of where a project is being built, improved, or removed; transportation
services are essential to the lives of the residents of every community.

Meeting LEP Requirements

In accordance with Title VI LEP requirements, the following resources are provided for your use when it is necessary to make reasonable accommodations to insure that we, our recipients, and subrecipients provide meaningful access to our programs, services, and information for all persons.

 

A) District One's Interpreters    

 

B) The Florida Relay System is now in place to provide communication assistance to people with auditory disabilities. This system will assist with initiating calls to people with hearing disabilities. There are two toll free phone numbers, as follows:

 

The TDD (telecommunication device for deaf and hard of hearing) number is (800) 955-8770. This number is used by people with voice capability to contact people who have auditory disabilities. This is for hearing people wanting to call a non-hearing person.

 

The TTY (teletype device for deaf and hard of hearing) number is (800) 955-8771. This number is used by people without voice capability to contact other people using the Florida Relay Service. This is for non-hearing people wanting to call a hearing person.
