Urban transportation planning is the process used in urbanized areas to analyze and plan for current and future transportation needs. An important element of this process is the forecasting of travel demand using computerized simulation models. The Systems Forecasting & Modeling Section provides information to support transportation-related forecasting, including travel demand modeling. This section works with the districts, MPOs, cities, counties, and other government agencies in their development and use of travel demand models and provides technical guidance, training, and assistance as needed.
