Rachel D. Cone
Prior to being named Interim Secretary, Rachel D. Cone most recently served as the Assistant Secretary for Finance & Administration for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). As the Assistant Secretary, Rachel oversaw the Offices of the Comptroller, Administration, Human Resources, Work Program and Budget, Information Systems, Performance Management and Procurement.
In 2012, Rachel was appointed to serve as Governor Rick Scott’s Deputy Chief of Staff. In this role, Rachel was responsible for advising the Governor on statewide issues and providing guidance and direction to 14 state and quasi-governmental agencies on operational and management issues, including policy, budget, communication, legislative strategy and agency priorities. Rachel’s area of responsibility included FDOT and transportation issues.
Prior to joining Governor Scott’s administration, Rachel served as the External Affairs Director for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and also worked in the administration of Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton.
A proud graduate of Auburn University, Rachel is married to Dave Cone. Rachel and Dave have two children, Emmeline and Folsom, and enjoy being a part of the Tallahassee community.
