Connected Vehicle Priority and Preemption System (CVPP)

Hillsborough County desires to use CAV technologies to achieve a fatality free and congestion‐free roadway network in Hillsborough County and across Florida. The CVPP project is identified as a priority project to implement. On the CVPP, Hillsborough County is partnering with the public agencies and private sector organizations.

The CVPP will increase mobility for emergency and transit vehicles and all people; improve travel time reliability; enhance multimodal transit operations; and positively affect the economy of Florida by reducing crashes and keeping traffic moving. The CVPP will deploy advanced traveler information systems, advanced public transportation systems, transportation system performance data collection, analysis, and dissemination systems and advanced safety systems including vehicle‐to‐infrastructure communications technologies over a five‐year period.
