Highway Advisory Radio / CB Wizard

FDOT maintains a statewide system of traveler information stations, which are commonly called highway advisory radio (HAR) and/or CB Wizards stations. These stations can be permanently mounted at critical locations or trailer-mounted at temporary sites, such as those used for construction.

These traveler information stations provide messages directing the traveling public to a radio station for important information. This combination of stations transmit in AM broadcast/CB band (Channel 19) and are used in case of emergency situations, such as a hurricane, fire, contraflow, or other serious traffic conditions.

Department guidance for future implementations and transitions of the Highway Advisory Radio system can be viewed in the following memo: EOM16-03.
