SR 434 Connected Vehicle Deployment

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five is currently working to complete the SR 434 Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot. This project is located in Seminole County, north of the University of Central Florida (UCF) on SR 434, from north of McCulloch Road to east Mitchell Hammock Road and serves as a starting point for the PedSafe Greenway Deployment Project. This project includes the deployment of CV technologies at six (6) signalized intersections, such as Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC), roadside units (RSU), and onboard units (OBU) capable of performing Signal Phase and Timing (SPAT), Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP), Transit Signal Priority (TSP) applications, among others. Additionally, signal performance metrics data will be captured through a retrofit technology deployment. Presently, all hardware has been installed and application integration efforts are ongoing.
