The FDOT Central Office coordination of the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside of the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program was recently assigned to the Office of Policy Planning. The TA Set-Aside is intended to fund a variety of small-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, safe routes to school projects, community improvements such as historic preservation and vegetation management, and environmental mitigation related to stormwater and habitat connectivity.

FDOT developed Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) guidance after the passing of the highway funding act, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). The Office of Policy Planning (OPP) has updated this TAP Guidance with TA-Set Aside Guidance to be consistent with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.  OPP also plan to develop a Florida TA Set-Aside project eligibility list and Questions and Answers in the near future.

Please direct any questions or comments on the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside to Erika Thompson or call 850-414-4807.
