Covering State in 3 Years
Counties with Bike Trailers
The lessons and curricula will be made available through hardcopy, electronic (e.g., cd/dvd, flash drives, etc.), and eventually hosted online. Once the lessons are developed, the FTBSEP and some SRTS staff will begin training teachers and others how to use the lessons and teach children. After teachers and communities have training, they can also use SRTS bike trailers (over 30 located throughout the state) to get children on bikes when teaching safety skills. Each trailer will have bicycles as well as associated equipment to teach bicycle safety (e.g., cones, ropes, helmets, safety signs, etc.). Additionally being developed this year are Pedestrian Toolkits that can be used to teach pedestrian safety in the classroom or outside.
Below is a list of counties that have received bicycle education training trailers. These trailers will be fitted with the Pedestrian Toolkits soon.
