Telecommuting Information

Telecommuting is a work arrangement whereby selected state employees are allowed to perform the normal duties and responsibilities of their positions through the use of computers or telecommunications, at home or another place apart from the employees' usual place of work. The program is authorized under Section 110.171, Florida Statutes.

Within the Florida Department of Transportation, first consideration in development of a telecommuting program was given to the fact that positions require employees who are public servants focused on delivering a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods in Florida.

FDOT position eligibility is determined through criteria that take the duties and responsibilities of the position into consideration along with other specific Department developed requirements. Pertinent FDOT documents related to Telecommuting are:
