Leadership Communication Policy

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Transportation to maintain effective

communication with our employees, partners and customers. Effective plain language

communication is clear, concise, consistent and timely delivery of a message. It is also

essential to get feedback verifying the message was received and understood as

intended.

 

Communication (interpersonal skills, oral and written communication) is one of the core

competencies for senior leadership, and is expected of managers and supervisors of

the Department. Each is encouraged to exhibit excellent communication skills (refer to

Leadership Communications Guidelines, No. 075-000-001) and set an example for

other Department staff. Communication with our internal and external customers is key

to achieving excellence.
